About Swing North

We are a volunteer-run swing dance community, based in the vibrant city of Manchester, in the north of England. We meet each Tuesday in the city centre, to share our love of dancing, through classes and social dance.

We invite you to come and join us on our ongoing journey to better understand the history of Lindy Hop and the associated swing dances, which have their roots in african-american culture, and originated in Harlem, New York, a century ago. We celebrate those black dancers, who – in the face of adversity and prejudice – created something truly magnificent, along with the musicians of the time.

Swing North is run entirely by volunteers, led by a core team, who are invited by an elected admin board.
